MILAN (CelebrityAccess) — Singer-songwriter Patti Smith has been forced to cancel several upcoming shows in Italy after being briefly hospitalized with an undisclosed health issue.
Smith, 76, announced the news to fans via social media, sharing a photo of herself with healthcare providers along with a note announcing the cancellations.
“This is to thank everyone at the hospital for their help and advice. I’m really sorry that we had to cancel the concerts in Bologna and Venice. I will return to fulfill my happy obligations,” Smith wrote in the Instagram post.
“It is also to thank all the medical teams around the world, who respond to the needs of the people, especially those who serve selflessly under fire, all the healers, doctors, nurses, orderlies. I also want to thank everyone for sending messages of love and concern. I am resting, as the doctor ordered, grateful to have received such care, although I am painfully aware that many are not so lucky,” she added.
Affected shows include September 12 at Duse in Bologna and Malibran in Venice on December 14.
