Plus, three reader comments:
Said Deirdre on go from one child to two: “When I was pregnant with my second child, I made a photo book of my firstborn’s first year. It helped him imagine having a baby around, and he was obsessed with it. Once his brother was born, every time we celebrated a new milestone (like the first bath!), my older son would get excited, knowing that these were milestones we were just as excited about with him.
Said Jessica on five disabled people explain how to welcome everyone during the holidays: “Physically disabled person here: Before a party, I like when the host asks me the question: “What can I do to be sure that you have a 10/10 time?” It’s a less “disability-centric” way of asking how to be a great host, instead of asking a person to advocate for themselves.
Said Amber on four funny things: “My children are growing up in an interfaith family (Jewish and Christian) and we garnish our tree with a bagel.”
