Google lagging behind
With its recent launch, Google positioned Gemini as “the next step in our journey” toward AI and boasted of its “cutting-edge capabilities.”
This was also an attempt to distract or, conversely, confront OpenAI’s ChatGPT. If that happens, they’ll get closer to where they want to be, but for now, products need to perform and resonate with consumers, including cloud customers.
Gemini comes in three sizes, Ultra, Pro and Nano, with the latter starting to roll out.
It is designed to work on phones allowing access to large numbers of people and with bespoke versions such as Gemini Pro for Bard, Google’s chatbot and competitor to Chat GPT, it strives to take the lead and to no longer lose ground to OpenAI, whether in perception or in reality.
