MANILA, Philippines — Angel Canino’s mother Sol has put all rumors to rest regarding the La Salle star, who recently suffered a non-volleyball-related injury.
The reigning UAAP MVP showed up to the second round replay of Season 86 with a sling to support her right arm, which was heavily wrapped. According to La Salle assistant Noel Orcullo, Canino had suffered a “cut” to his right arm.
Speculation has been rife over the nature of Canino’s injuries since last week.

Canino’s mother wanted to end all speculation, insisting that her daughter would not turn professional with Akari at PVL. She also denied rumors of academic deficiency and pregnancy.
Angel’s father is an assistant coach for the Chargers.
“She’s not going anywhere, she’s not going Pro (please stop dragging Akari). She’s not pregnant (stop trolling anyone). She doesn’t have academic problems and she certainly isn’t faking it. She is injured and she will recover,” Sol wrote on her social media accounts.

Sol urged social media users to be responsible for the content they post as Angel continues to recover.
“As a mom, I pray that we are responsible for what we post and comment because somewhere along the way there are people who are hurt. I always believe in kindness, so please be kind,” she said.
MVP’s mother is also asking for their privacy, as La Salle has not disclosed all the details of the accident that left Angel on the sidelines.
“I hope you understand the word respect,” Sol responded to a user who was forcing her to share what exactly happened to Angel.

Orcullo, speaking on behalf of Ramil De Jesus, said Canino’s recovery was a day-by-day process, but their star was still there and encouraged the Lady Spikers in their 26-24, 25-19, 24-26, 27-25 defeat the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Canino politely declined to discuss her injury with reporters after the game, but her parents assured their daughter was doing well in her recovery.
Despite Canino’s absence, La Salle secured a spot in the Final Four with an 8-1 record in second place, joining league leaders University of Santo Tomas (9-1) and l National University (8-2).
