The deciding aspect of wearing a cape is how it fits and falls on your body. And cape sizing isn’t an exact science, but there are a few considerations you need to make before you click “buy.” Here are some tips to help you find the right plus size fall cape for you:
- LENGTH: As a short, curvy girl, I’ve found that some capes drown me in fabric – they’re just too long! This is a completely normal problem for a short person, although annoying. If you find yourself in this predicament, you can either focus on smaller fall capes or take your too-long cape to your local tailor to have it shortened!
- CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Lots of plus-size fall capes have faux fur or other dramatic (and fun!) features that make them dry clean only. When looking for a cape for myself, I usually look for faux fur or detachable elements to make care more manageable. And believe me when I tell you that you do NOT want to wash faux fur in your regular washing machine!
